Set top layer to difference blend mode and use move tool to align - least amount of image showing. Click on the first and paste as new layer CTRL+L. Open the first and it will be the background. I'm tinkering withĪ trial version of PSP v8.1, but can't find an obvious way to do Including adjustment layers, Curves, and a whole lot of selection Most all the important blend modes you'll ever need are in PSP, It can also let you do layer masking, which I have seen done for Think of no reason that PSP would not work for what you probably I use it to stack night shots, but not for astrophotography. So, it looks like I need to align and combine layers (individual exposures in this case) at high zoom to get what I need - a proceedure I have as yet not figured out. The Image/Arithmetic function is not the answer, since it will happily add a pixel value from my dog's nose to another from my cat's butt. That means I need some way to manually align not-quite-the-same images such that the correct pixels end up being arithmetically combined. Stacking multiple time exposures in PSP would be a no-brainer if every image in a set of exposures represented an identical "sky box" - but I can't imagine that the LX-200 tracks accurately enough to make that happen. What I want to do is lash a D100 up to my Meade LX-200 GPS Maksutov and try some deep space imaging. Most of my problem is lack of experience with astrophotography. The more I tinker with the PSP demo, the more I agree with your opinion on this software. ![]()
